Former Kuki Family Residence Museum
This is a pseudo-Western-style building that is rare in Japan. It was built in the early Meiji period and is designated as an important tangible cultural property of Hyogo Prefecture. It is a valuable building in which the traditional Japanese architectural style and the Western-style design of the time are in perfect harmony. It is a unique museum where you can feel the history.

Sanda Furusato Learning Center
his facility is adjacent to the former Kuki Residence Museum. The two-story wooden building was built in 1954 as a prefectural health center, and you can feel the atmosphere of the Showa era. Local history, culture, and tools of the past are exhibited seasonally, and the display of relics excavated in ancient Sanda is especially impressive.

Ruins of Sanda Castle
The ruins of Sanda Castle, sometimes called Sanda Jinya (Sanda Camp), is a famous place in Sanda. All you can see is a stone monument and a moat, but there is a magnificent black gate that was moved to the nearby Old Castle Park. For a better understanding of the history of the area, visit the old Kuki Family Residence Museum as well.

Birthplace of Taizo Shirasu
A Sanda entrepreneur who was active from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji period. This is the birthplace of the person who encouraged the importation of Western culture and worked for the promotion of Sanda's industries. He was also the brains behind the Kuki family, the former lords of Sanda. This is a place where you can learn about the history of Japan.

Shingetsuin
Temple This is the family temple of the Kuki family, former lords of the Sanda district, and is where the tombs of the Kuki ancestors are located. The temple was built in the Edo period and the garden changes its expression with the seasons. You can feel the changing culture of Japan, such as the tombstones with English letters made in the early Meiji era.

Site of Sanda Eiran Juku
This was a private school established by Koumin Kawamoto, who was famous for being the first Japanese to brew beer, and was quite popular at the time. English, Dutch, and chemistry were taught at the school. Many of the students who were educated here are still well-known as great people today.

Birthplace of Koumin Kawamoto
This is the site of the birthplace of Koumin Kawamoto, the founder of modern chemistry in Japan. He went to Edo (former Tokyo) to study Western medicine, and became well versed in Dutch studies, physics, and chemistry. No buildings remain, but there is an information board. Enjoy beer and ice cream named after Koumin.

Myosan-ji Temple
Founded in 1602, Myosan-ji Temple is the only Nichiren Shu temple in Mita City, and has been carrying on the light of Buddhism for over 400 years. The temple is also famous for being the childhood home of Japan's national poet, Tatsuji Miyoshi. You can enjoy the atmosphere of this historical temple.
